Let me start off with this:
If you're looking for money-making methods that you can actually earn a living with, you're in the wrong place (check out my work from home jobs article instead). All of these easy ways to make money are just that – easy.
What makes them easy? Well, they don't require any special skills. Basically, anyone can do them and most of them are free to start.
These methods are meant to be a way for you to make extra money on the side of a full-time job or hustle. You're not going to get rich with them.
If anyone tries to tell you that there are easy ways to make boatloads of cash, they're either lying or they're doing something illegal. The only legitimately easy ways to get rich that I can think of are:
- Winning the lottery (This isn't actually easy to do, but it's easy money if you manage to somehow win)
- Inheriting it
That's honestly all that I can think of. If you can think of any more, let me know in the comments.
Now, let's get into the legit easy ways to earn money…
Table of Contents:
Easy Ways to Make Money Fast
If you need some easy cash fast, use one of these methods. If you act on them today, you should be able to start earning in less than a week.
1. Ask a Friend or Family Member
No one likes having to ask for money, but if you're really in a pinch and you need money fast, this may be the best option.
2. Deliver Food
If you have a car or a bike, you can start getting paid to deliver food. Heck, some delivery apps even hire walkers. It may not be the most glorious gig, but you can work on your own schedule so it has its benefits.
Here are some of the top food delivery apps to become a driver for:
Here's a breakdown of how these delivery apps work:
- You become a driver for one (or multiple) apps.
- When you're ready to deliver, you go online on each of your apps. You'll then start receiving delivery requests.
- When a delivery request comes in, you can either accept or reject it. If it looks like it's going to be a pain in the arse (for example, the restaurant is way too far away), you don't have to take it.
Since each app has different delivery requests each day, you'll have an advantage if you can manage multiple apps at a time. That way you can sort through the requests and only take the best ones.
If you decide to become a driver, I recommend using a service such as Hurdlr to track your mileage while you're working.

3. Drive for Uber/Lyft
If you don't feel like delivering food (or if requests aren't coming in for food deliveries), switch over to Uber or Lyft for a bit so that you never have a slow moment.
If you commute to work you can also pick passengers up on the way to make some extra money. Uber and Lyft both have a feature that allows you to look for people who are going to a destination close to yours, so it won't add much time to your commute either.

4. Check Your Couch Cushions

You may not get as lucky as these roommates who found $40,000 in a thrift store couch, but who knows, maybe you'll find some change? I once found about $10 worth of toonies and loonies in my Grandpas chair when I was a kid. Might as well try your luck!
Even if you don't find any money, you might find a small snack like an old peanut or something. What have you got to lose?
5. Rent Out a Room on Airbnb
You probably wouldn't like sharing your spare room with a stranger, but how would you like it if it covered your entire rent bill for the month? This lady from LA rents her spare room out only 10 nights per month and that's enough to completely cover her rent bill.
If you just need some fast cash, you could list your room on Airbnb, rent it out for a couple of nights and then unlist it. It only takes about 24 hours to get your room posted, so you could potentially have money coming in pretty quickly.
And hey, if you end up really liking the extra cash flow, you can keep your room listed for consistent earnings.
Either way, it doesn't hurt to at least give it a shot. Go here to see how much you could earn per month.
6. Sell Unused Gift Cards
Have you ever received a gift card from someone for a place that you never shop at? Me too.
I usually just try to re-gift it to someone else whenever that happens, but as it turns out, there are actually places where you can sell unwanted gift cards for cash. You won't get the full amount, but it's better than nothing.
You could also try to sell the gift card to a friend if that's easier.
7. Deliver Groceries
More delivery jobs? JEEZ. Don't worry this is the last one. This time we're talking about Instacart, a grocery delivery service that needs drivers and shoppers.
By becoming a shopper for Instacart, you can essentially get paid to shop. So if you know your way around a grocery store this could be the gig for you.
Currently, Instacart offers two different opportunities:
- Full-service shopper – Shop and deliver grocery orders in your car
- In-store shopper – Shop and fulfill orders within a store (no driving required)
If you'd like to learn more, head over to Instacart.com.
8. Sell Your Old Stuff
Unless you're an extreme minimalist, you've probably got at least ONE thing lying around that you don't really need or use anymore. Instead of letting it collect dust, why not sell it to someone who will actually use and appreciate it?
Take a look around your house and see what you could sell. It could be an old video game system, some old speakers, a bike, clothes, anything really!
Here are some places you can sell your old stuff for easy cash:
- Facebook marketplace
- Craigslist
- eBay
- If you're selling clothes, try Poshmark or Depop.
- If you want to sell old books, use Bookscouter
9. Mystery Shopping
Mystery shopping is an easy gig that involves going to stores, restaurants, automotive shops, and other businesses in order to evaluate their services.
A successful mystery shopper will have:
- A great memory
- An eye for detail; and
- The ability to follow instructions
You'll also need an internet connection and some sort of mode of transportation to get you around to different businesses.
The rewards for mystery shopping vary. You may get to dine at a restaurant for free, get a free oil change, or you might just get paid cash.
If you want to become a mystery shopper, here is a popular legitimate company that's looking for applicants:
10. Sell Plasma
Although there are a few different bodily fluids that you could donate for money (that sounds odd), plasma is one of the highest-paying. It's also one that doesn't have many barriers to entry.
For a typical plasma donation, you can expect around $20-$50. Check out this guide on donating plasma to learn more.
Easy Ways to Make Money Passively
These money-making methods definitely won't help you stack benjamins to the ceiling, but they're super easy.
Some of these (once set up) will even become passive income sources.
11. Earn Cash Back Automatically with Drop
Drop is one of my favorite cash back apps because it's completely hands-off. All you have to do is link your credit/debit card(s), and you'll start earning cash back at a handful of select stores whenever you make a purchase.
Right now, I'm automatically earning cash back at:
- Shopper's Drug Mart
- Walmart
- H&M
- Indigo; and
- Shell
Whenever I use my credit/debit card to make a purchase at one of those stores, I earn cash back. I don't even have to think about it.
When you sign up, you'll get to choose 5 of your own stores to earn cash back at.
Drop also offer some other ways to earn cash back as well:
- Refer friends for $5
- Get limited time offers
- and more.
Try Drop for free with a $5 sign up bonus
12. Get the Best Price with Paribus
While we're on the subject of shopping, let me tell you about Paribus. Paribus is a service that will automatically figure out if stores owe you a refund.
For example:
- If a price drops on something you purchased online, Paribus will help you get your money back
- If something you order from Amazon comes late, Paribus will contact Amazon to remove the shipping charge
- If you book a hotel and the price drops, Paribus will help you rebook at a lower rate
All you have to do is create a free account, and Paribus will have your back.
I honestly can't believe I didn't know about this service sooner. Paribus has already found over $20 million in potential savings for its users.
13. Get $5-$10 From Ebates
Ebates is the most popular cashback website and for good reason: it's helped its members earn over $1 billion (yes, billion) in cashback.
They offer cash back at almost every store imaginable so if you're not using Ebates, you're practically missing out on free money.
Here's how to get started:
After you've completed those steps, simply shop online as usual and if there's a cashback opportunity available, the extension will alert you. You can also shop directly through your Ebates account.
14. Rent Out Your Car
If you have a car that you only use every once in a while, you might as well make some money off it. By renting your car out, you may even be able to cover your car-related expenses such as insurance, gas, or a loan.
Renting your car out is easy and safe as well. With a service such as Getaround or Turo, you're covered by insurance and it's super easy to get started. You could even list your car on both services for more potential cash flow.
15. Refer Friends to Ibotta
Ibotta is a grocery savings app that can not only save you money but also make you money. How? iBotta will pay you money for each friend that you refer to the app.
Those friends will then become a part of your team, and you can all earn cash back rewards and bonuses together. In total, iBotta users have earned over $500 million in cash back!
If you sign up here, you'll get a $5-$10 bonus after uploading your first receipt.
16. Get Paid to Walk
Walking around obviously isn't going to earn you a lot, but somethings better than nothing, right? Plus, you're probably going to be walking around anyway, so you might as well earn.
My favorite way to get paid to walk is with an app called Sweatcoin, but that's not the only app that pays for steps. Check out my full post of apps that pay you to walk for more opportunities.
17. Rent Out Your Parking Spot
You know when you get somewhere only to find that parking is either absurdly priced or there's just no parking at all? It's frustrating, to say the least (especially when you're in a hurry).
Luckily, there are services working to solve those problems, and you can earn with them. These services are allowing every-day people to rent out their parking spots/driveways to random strangers.
So, if you live in a decently busy area and you have a parking spot/driveway you don't use all the time, why not rent it out? You can set available times for your spot as well so that no one can rent it when you need it.
Here are some apps where you can list your spot:
18. Get Rid of Unused Subscriptions
Unused recurring subscriptions are like a leaky faucet in your bank account. Money just pours out and you gain nothing.
With a free service called Trim, I found a few unused subscriptions that I no longer needed (or forgot about) and was able to easily cancel them. I've now got $30 extra each month.
If you want to learn more, be sure to read my full Trim review.
19. Earn Up to $10,000 for Hitting a Weight Loss Goal
Ok, so obviously losing weight is far from easy, however, if you're already wanting to lose some weight anyway, you might as well make some money from it. With HealthyWage, you can earn up to $10,000 just for hitting your weight loss goal. That's a lot of cash!
Check out these success stories from other HealthyWage users:

If you're interested in seeing how much money you could win, head over to the HealthyWage Prize Calculator! Or, if you'd rather conquer your weight loss goal in a group, you can learn more about HealthyWage Team Challenges.
20. Earn Cash Back on Restaurant Reservations
Earning cash back on restaurant reservations almost sounds too good to be true, but an app called Seated is making it happen!
They're currently only in the US (Can't wait until they're in Canada!) and they offer up to 30% cash back at thousands of restaurants.
All you have to do to earn that cash back is use Seated to make your reservation, and then snap a pic of your receipt at the end of your meal.
Try Seated for free with a $5 sign up bonus
Easy Ways to Make Money Online
Throughout this post so far I've mentioned a few easy ways to make money online, but now I'll be focusing exclusively on online earning opportunities.
So, if you're into relaxing at home while making some easy cash from your phone or computer, these are for you. All of these are free to start, and only require an internet connection.
21. Influence Products and Answer Questions
With Survey Junkie, you can earn money simply by sharing your opinion. The surveys that you complete will help influence products, so you'll actually have an impact on things you're interested in as well.
As you answer surveys (which you can do on any device), you'll earn points. Those points can then be redeemed for Paypal cash or e-gift cards.
How much will you earn: You won't get rich taking surveys, but it's easy money. A lot of it depends on your demographics so your earnings can vary month-to-month. See the tips below to increase your earnings.
Here are some other legitimate survey sites that you can make easy money on:
- PrizeRebel
- YouGov
- Ipsos i-Say
- Vindale Research (Mobile | Desktop)
- MyPoints – Earn a $5 bonus after you take 5 surveys.
- Lifepoints
Tips to increase your earnings and waste less time:
- Create a separate email address – This way you'll have an email dedicated to your surveys, so you can easily see them all in one place, and you won't miss any. I use a separate Gmail account for my surveys.
- Sign up for multiple sites – Since each survey site has different surveys and the surveys you receive depend on your demographics, signing up for more sites gives you more surveys, which means more earning opportunities.
- Answer honestly and read questions carefully – If you don't follow this rule, you'll have a higher chance of getting disqualified on surveys, and then you'll get annoyed (I've been there). Take your time and answer honestly. That way the survey site you're on can deliver more relevant surveys in the future, you'll get disqualified less, and you'll actually make money.
- Don't give up – (This goes for all side hustles) A lot of people give up way to early. Stick around, take the time to learn a strategy/system, and you'll see success.
22. Participate in Research Studies
Research studies are studies that require a particular demographic of people to participate in them. For example, companies may be looking for students, parents, industry professionals, millennials, or just general people to participate in their studies.
Companies use these studies to learn more about their target markets in order to serve them better. By taking part, you'll be impacting brands, businesses, products, and services.
One of the best places to take part in these studies is on a site called Repondent.io. They've paid over $2 million to their respondents, and have an average hourly rate of $140 per hour!
The type of studies Respondent offers is changing all the time but each study has an average length of 30-minutes. You're also not required to take part in any particular study, you get to choose which ones you want to do.
Here are the requirements to join:
- Be 18 years or older
- Have a PayPal account
- Have a Facebook or LinkedIn account
23. Join the Nielsen Panel
The Nielsen Computer & Mobile Panel will pay you just to install an app on your smartphone/computer. The app you install will then anonymously and safely track your internet usage (your personal information will not be sent to Nielsen).
Why do they want to track your internet usage? Nielsen is a massive research company and they want to use this data to improve products and services offered on the web.
By allowing Nielsen to track your internet usage, you'll earn $50-$60 a year with the chance of some big sweepstake prizes as well. That may not seem like much, but all you have to do is install an app for those earnings, so it's pretty easy and completely passive.
Learn more about the Nielsen Computer & Mobile Panel
24. Test Products from Home
Testing physical products is a great way to earn cash and a lot of the time you'll get to keep the product you're testing as well. It's a win-win scenario.
However, product testing opportunities don't come often, so you'll need to keep your eye out for them. When you finally get one, make sure to give good and honest feedback on the product, or else you may never get another chance at a physical product test.
Here are three of the best sites that offer product testing opportunities:
25. Try Matched Betting
Matched betting is a completely risk-free way to make money on betting sites. It involves using free bets (which many of the sites offer) and then betting for and against a certain outcome.
So for example, a site may offer you a free $15 bet if you deposit $15. You'd then use that free bet to bet for your favorite soccer team to win, and you'd also bet $15 against your favorite soccer team to win. This way no matter what happens, you win.
Learn more about matched betting with this guide.
26. Test Websites and Apps
Testing websites and apps is one of my favorite ways to make extra money online. It's easy, fun, and it pays well.
If you're not a tech genius, don't worry. The tests you'll be doing are called usability tests, which developers use to see how easy their app or website is to use.
Basically, there are no right or wrong ways to do a usability test. All you need is a computer/phone and a microphone so that you can speak your thoughts out loud while performing the test.
My favorite site to use is called Usertesting.com (they pay $10 for each 10-20 minute test), but I've made a list of a ton of other sites that pay you to test websites and apps as well.
27. Get $5 From Swagbucks
Swagbucks is a site that pays for all sorts of different tasks. Things like:
- Watching videos
- Searching the web
- Shopping
- Answering surveys
- and more!
They've been around for ages as well, I made my account so long ago I can't even remember when it was. You can check out my full Swagbucks review + earning guide to learn more about what I think about it.
Since their start, Swagbucks has paid over $330 million to their users!

28. Get Paid to Read Emails
If you check your email inbox every day then why not get paid to receive a few extra? Inbox Dollars will send special offers to your inbox and they'll pay you simply just to read the email.
All you have to do is open the email up, read it, and press a button that confirms you read it. The offer within the email gives you more opportunities to earn, but it's not required.
Sign up for Inbox Dollars with a $5 sign up bonus
29. Click Ads
Yes, you can actually earn money by clicking ads. This is probably the easiest way to make money online (it's literally mind-numbing work) but it pays VERY little. You'll earn anywhere from $0.001 – $0.02 per click.
If you're still interested, the best site to find these ad clicking jobs is Neobux.com. They offer other ways to earn as well, but the ad clicking is their primary focus.
30. Become a Clickworker
Clickworker is a crowd working site that has been around since 2005 and has since grown to over 1 million users.
If you're not sure what crowd working is, here's a quick breakdown:
When a company needs a small task done (e.g. proofreading) instead of finding an independent contractor, they hire a Clickworker. This allows them to get their job done fast, efficiently, and for a good price.
If you become a Clickworker, you can get paid for all sorts of different tasks, such as:
- Writing
- Data organization
- Copy editing
- Proofreading
- Web research
- Surveys
- Taking photos
- App testing
There are of course other jobs that can pop-up on Clickworker, but those are the main categories. As a Clickworker, you decide which jobs to take, when to work, and it's completely free to get started.
If you want to learn more, read my full Clickworker review and guide.
31. Review Music
If you're someone who loves to listen to music, you'll probably be doing it whether you're getting paid or not. The cool thing is, there are actually a couple of sites that will pay you to listen to and review music.
They don't pay much (around 2-20 cents per song/review), but if you're already listening to music anyway, this is a great way to expose yourself to new artists while making some easy pocket change.
Here are the recommended sites:
32. Download a Money-Making App
There are tons of money-making apps available through the App Store and Google Play store. Unfortunately, a lot are scams and there are new ones coming out every day, so it's hard to keep track of the good ones.
Here are some to check out:
- Paid survey apps
- Apps that pay you to walk
- Apps that pay you to shop
- Apps that pay you to scan receipts
33. Play Mobile Games
Mistplay is a mobile loyalty app that lets you earn money while playing mobile games. You won't earn much, but it's probably the easiest cash you'll ever get your hands on. And if you're already playing mobile games, you might as well monetize that time! Read our full Mistplay review and guide to learn more.
Another opportunity to check out is PlayTestCloud. They'll pay you to test mobile games (and occasionally PC games). Read our PlayTestCloud review to learn more.
Want to Earn Some Real Money?
Making easy money is nice and all, but the methods above aren't going to allow you to quit your job. They're good for extra income, but that's about it.
If working from home for a living is something you're interested in, check out these work from home jobs that pay $50k+ a year.
Decent article, but I recommend pointing readers towards this step by step guide to matched betting – it’s much more comprehensive: https://onsideview.com/gambling/matched-betting/the-ultimate-step-by-step-guide-to-matched-betting
Thanks for sharing, I haven’t been able to try matched betting myself as I’m not sure it works in Canada. But it does seem like easy money (once you get the hang of it)!
“This is amazing!!
Thanks!!
In clickworker they are asking for tax number. Where can I get tax number as I am a student. Help me sir
Depending on where you’re from it should be something like your social insurance number if you’re in Canada, or social security number if you’re in the US. Amazon should be able to specify what they need from you depending on where you’re from. Hope this helps.
Hi thank you so much,I want make money online
No problem, Natasha. How much are you looking to make per month? That will help me narrow down some options.
Hi, i like your article. I have had some questions : Are there fast easy ways to get skills that pay? or we have to struggle to get them? is the real money only come by hard?
Thank you.
Hey Ismail, good question. Personally, I have yet to find an easily learnable skill that pays really well. But, think about it this way:
If you find a high paying skill that you actually enjoy learning, it should, therefore, be pretty easy for you to improve at. And if you enjoy what you do, it shouldn’t feel like a struggle.
That being said, don’t expect to enjoy any type of work ALL the time. There will be days where you may have to push yourself a bit to get stuff done, but little by little you’ll make progress. Just make working on your skill a habit (e.g. if you like to write, write every day), and soon you’ll be one of the best, able to command high rates for your time.
Hope this helps.
I need earning free money
Ok, which methods have you tried?
Well, making money fast is not always a good idea, but a forced step. Sometimes it is inevitable. But I would recommend not to get used to fast money. Investing in your future and choosing a job with a long-time perspective is the best variant
Completely agree with you. We’d all love to be able to ‘get rich quick’ as they say, but it’s just not realistic. That’s why most of the ways to make money fast that I’ve listed in this post are simply small amounts of money. Thanks for your input!
Thank you alot
I am just 18 from Nepal and i want to earn money no matter how much. I can do online typing. Is there any job like that for me?
Hi Isha, try checking these Transcription Jobs out and let me know what you think.
