Test IO Reviews & Overview

Becoming a Test IO tester is free. To get started, head over to the platform's website and create an account. You can do this by signing in via an existing EPAM, LinkedIn, or Google account, or you can sign up via email.

After signing up, before receiving paid project invites, you'll be required complete some of Test IO's testing courses to get up to speed on how the platform works and how to complete tasks correctly.

From there, you'll also want to add all your available devices to your profile as this info will help Test IO match you to relevant testing projects.

Testing projects: The primary way to earn money on Test IO is by participating in testing projects. These involve testing websites, apps, IoT products, livestreams, and other pieces of software (and occasionally hardware) for Test IO customers.

The types of testing involved typically include:

• Exploratory testing. Simply use the software as you see fit to try to uncover bugs. Get paid for approved bugs.
• Localization testing. Make sure a software translates well to different locations and cultures.
• Bug reproduction. Besides finding bugs, you may also get paid for reproducing them (if they're approved).
• Scripted testing. Also referred to as a user story, with these, you'll have to run through a specific set of instructions to ensure a specific outcome is achieved.
• Hardware testing. Trustworthy and dedicated testers may receive the opportunity to test physical hardware products over multiple days, weeks, or months.

As a beginner tester, you'll start in the Greenhorn phase. Once you submit more than 50 valid bug findings, you'll pass the Greenhorn phase and will move onto completing rapid and focused tests.

Based on your testing performance, you'll be ranked based on the total number of submitted bugs, the number of bugs submitted in the last 90 days, and bug approval rate in the last 90 days. Better performance will lead to additional perks like mentoring, more test opportunities, device reimbursements, and more.

Other tester roles: From being a tester, there are also other roles you can take on, such as becoming a Brand Ambassador or a Team Leader but these roles might ask you to fulfill certain requirements and may depend on your overall performance in working within the platform.

Referrals: Test IO also offers a paid referral program. Share your link and earn referral points for signups who complete specific tasks, including:

• 20 referral points when your referral completes the Exploratory Testing course.
• 30 referral points when your referral submits their first approved bug.
• Both you and your referral earn 50 referral points when your referral submits their 5th approved bug.
• Both you and your referral earn 50 referral points when your referral remains active for 6 months.

Once you have at least $25 in your balance, you can cash out your Test IO earnings via Direct Deposit or PayPal.

After cashing out, you can expect to receive your Test IO payout in 28-62 days. (Earnings can only be cashed out on a monthly basis. All of your earnings from the previous month will be added up every 11th of each month (or the next business day) then you have up until the 19th to request payment. Once requested, expect to receive your payout by the end of the month.)
